Wedding invitations and Save the Dates can be extremely expensive and difficult to choose. In hopes to inspire your choice, here are a few examples of what celebs have come up with

The Royal Wedding
Prince William and Kate Middleton's save the dates were faxed to the major royal families throughout Europe. A fax is the last way I would expect such a momentous occasion to be announced. I picture the messenger with a horn and scroll on horseback announcing it, but I guess that's just in Cinderella. They did mail their 10 x 6 inch gold embossed invitations (seen right) to 1,900 guests. The cards were stamped with the Queen's insignia EIIR.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
Kim's invitations were extremely classy written in black on white card stock to match the theme of black, white and sparkle. The invitations were mailed in a silver card box which also included hotel suggestions and RSVP details

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
This couple surprised guests who thought they were attending an engagement party. Instead, Britt and KFed got married right then and handed out these cards announcing the surprise!

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz
The couple had an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding and send out these black and red cards to remind guests to save the date!

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris
Hefner tweeted this picture and said "Friends and family are already receiving our wedding invitation." This Swarovski crystal encrusted card invited 300 people to watch the couple exchange vows in the backyard of the Playboy Mansion. Everything is personalized on this invite, even the stamp which is a picture of the couple with their dog.

Shannon Tweed and Gene Simmons
Shannon and Gene took a less traditional approach with their wedding invitations (what would you expect after 28 years of dating). In these unique invites, their children, Sophie and Nicholas invited guests to their parents' ceremony. The invite also included a hand-drawn family picture by Nick

Shannen Doherty and Kurt Iswarienko
Shannen and Kurt's invitation is printed in what looks like traditional font and embellished with the couples initials. The back of the invitation gives parking/valet information and informs guests that cell phones and cameras will not be allowed on the property. The couple also advises guests to visit www.shannenandkurt.com (password: Sandk) for more information.

Fergie & Josh Duhmel
It is common for celebrities to not send out invitations before the wedding in hopes to keep the details out of the hands of the paparazzi. At their wedding, the wedding favors were the invitations. Guests received an invitation on white card stock with black font and black crystal as well as this caricature of the couple. The envelope was sealed with a monogram of an f and j, which was inspired by a necklace that Josh gave to Fergie.

Kendra Wilkinson & Hank Baskett
The couple kept with their color scheme of lavender and white from bridesmaid dresses to the invitations/STDs.

Lala Vasquez and Carmelo Anthony
I think this is such a cute idea! Lala Vasquez and Carmelo Anthony sent out their save the dates just in time for Valentine's Day. The other side of the card reads "Marry Me."
AW!

Lily Allen and Sam Cooper
Lily Allen's STD is a funny country theme. The couple superimposed their faced on the body's of a farmer and wife on a tractor.

Jesse Lenoir and Brittany
A story was used to design Jesse Lenoir's ("Project Runway" designer) wedding invites. The story is so cute! The two actors both went to the same university and never met each other for 2 years. The story goes on and explains how they fell in love.

These examples just go to show how creativity is limitless when it comes to Invitation and STD design. Did any of these inspire you to go above and beyond the traditional look? Which did you like best? Let us know!
