Twilight fans have long been looking forward to seeing the on-screen wedding of Edward and Bella, but one of the other members of the Cullen clan beat them to the altar – albeit in real life. Nikki Reed, who plays Rosalie in the Twilight movie series, married former American Idol contestant Paul McDonald on October 16.
In a nod to Paul’s talents and the couple’s shared love for music, the wedding was planned to feel more like an outdoor music festival than a formal event. Blankets were laid out so that guests could relax and look up at the stars when taking a break from dancing, and dinner was served from gourmet food trucks.
Nikki’s gown, however, was pure Hollywood glamour. The soft-white, strapless Tacori design featured elaborate beading along the top of the bodice, but was made even more stunning by a 72-inch train and 100 diamond buttons down the back.
While the gown might be a tad too elaborate to fit into normal wedding budgets, you can definitely take some cues from Nikki and Paul’s nuptials.
*If you and your fiance are music fans, build playlists for your ceremony, dinner and dance that perfectly capture your tastes. Set up your own system with an MP3 player, or hire a DJ to bring in professional sound equipment.
*The idea of laying out blankets for an evening of star-gazing is a romantic addition to any outdoor wedding. Add cushions for lounging and provide enough lighting that guests will be able to find their way around safely.
*With the growing popularity of food trucks in many cities, you might find some that are willing to cater your event, and you can provide guests with an eclectic menu served in laid-back style.
