Dessert is a staple of any wedding. How do you please the sweet tooth
of 100+ people? Many couples are now steering away from the traditional
cake to appeal to all guests and to keep costs down.
Here are some ideas that will satisfy everyone from the flower girl to your grandma.
Candy Buffet
Who doesn't love a piece of candy? The best part is the buffet can be personalized to the theme of the event. Whether it be a color or season (see below). For a fall wedding you can use candy corn and orange/brown colored candies. As a favor you can provide bags or even monogram Chinese food boxes to allow guests to take some treats home.
Ice Cream Sundae Buffet
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Who can honestly say they don't love ice cream? This classic treat can be transformed into a classy buffet with as many flavors and toppings as you desire.
Mini Treats
Would you rather eat a bunch of mini pastries than a whole piece of cake? Well we have the perfect addition to your reception. This station can also exemplify the theme or season. A fall wedding could have candy apples and small cinnamon donuts or an outside summer wedding could be topped off with smores! If you are a chocoholic you can make a chocolate bar with a plethora of all your favorite chocolate goods.
Individual Mini Cakes and Cupcake Towers
I love this idea of individual mini cakes OR cupcakes! The bride and groom can indulge or save the top tier while the guests's pieces are all individually (as well as beautifully) wrapped. This makes the dessert distribution much easier especially if the wedding is not being catered with wait staff.
Cookies Favors
Cookies are such a classic treat that can be personalized with a few unique touches: monogramming with the couple's initials, packaging, and different flavors. The best part is the cookies double as a treat and favor, cost effective and delish!
Cake Pops
My personal favorite: Cake pops! They are SO good and so cute may I add. Weddings are by no means about counting calories but it's the perfect way to indulge without feeling guilty! These pops can be decorated as an iconic wedding item (like the ones below) or to match your theme.
Grooms Cake
My idea of a groom's cake is a gift from the bride to personalize something special for the groom (since the wedding predominantly consists of the bride's choices). This cake is a fun way to express his favorite things, flavors or something you two enjoy doing together in dessert form. Below are some of the favorites that I found.
These desserts are works of art! Absolutely gorgeous and it provides you with another opportunity to showcase creativity as well as personality.
You cannot go wrong with any selection.
Do you think you would steer away from the traditional tiered cake? Keep in mind you don't have to skip out on all the traditions that come with a large cake when choosing one of these alternatives- you can always order a small top layer (with cake toppers and all!) to keep for yourselves. Tell us what you think!
